General manager John Lynch provided an update on rookie defensive end Nick Bosa during Monday night's broadcast of the preseason game between the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos. Bosa suffered an ankle injury during an August 7 practice in Santa Clara.

The 49ers hope Bosa will be available for Week 1 when the team plays the Buccaneers in Tampa, Florida. Is that still the plan?

"Week 1 is going to be … we'll see," Lynch responded when asked that question. "It's going to be very close. We've got to make sure Nick Bosa is going to be a part of our team for a long time, so we've got to make sure when he's out there, that he's right, and we will do that.

"He's pretty special when he's been out there. He's was tough to block, and he'll make our football team better."
