San Francisco 49ers safety Adrian Colbert is forced to exit early in his second consecutive game.
A week after being ejected from the San Francisco 49ers' first preseason game, safety Adrian Colbert's first-half hamstring strain will keep him out for the remainder of the Niners' Monday Night Football matchup with the Denver Broncos. 49ers defensive lineman Damontre Moore will also miss the rest of the game after injuring his thumb.
Meanwhile, fellow safety Tarvarius Moore, who is competing against Colbert for the 49ers' starting free safety job while defensive back Jimmie Ward recovers from injury, has continued to play into the second half of the contest. Moore was briefly forced to leave the field after being shaken up in the third quarter, but quickly returned to action.
Moore's strong preseason play, combined with Colbert's failure to stay on the field, has given the defensive back a leg up in the competition for the team's starting role. Moore played safety in college, and after attempting to convert to cornerback last season, has moved back to his natural position in San Francisco's secondary.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Shawn Poindexter is officially questionable to return to the game after sustaining a knee injury. However, Poindexter had to be helped off the field after the play:
