The San Francisco 49ers have placed rookie cornerback Tim Harris on injured reserve. In a corresponding move, the team officially announced the signing of defensive back Jordan Holland to a three-year deal, which was first reported on Sunday by NFL Draft Diamonds.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters via a conference call on Sunday that Harris, who suffered a groin injury a week ago against the Denver Broncos, had a chance to return to practice this week. He did not suit up against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.

Holland is the son of the 49ers' run-game specialist and outside linebackers coach, Johnny Holland. As reported on Sunday, Jordan Holland took part in the 49ers' rookie minicamp in May and mandatory minicamp in June.
