The San Francisco 49ers' final preseason bout, Thursday night against the Los Angeles Chargers, featured one particular play of note. Trailing 6-0 late in the first quarter, running back Jeff Wilson tried to get out to the left of a formation on an outside run. With the lanes quickly cut off, Wilson doubled back to the right side.
And quarterback C.J. Beathard was able to rush up from behind and open up quite the running lane on the 41-yard touchdown score. Just check it out for yourself:
Beathard, who was 3-of-5 for 23 yards during the first quarter, also added a 7-yard rush, too. As expected, he received the start in San Francisco's preseason finale.
Both he and Wilson are vying for spots on the 49ers' 53-man roster, which will be announced no later than 1 p.m. PT on Saturday, Aug. 31.
