The 49ers CANNOT have another 2011 draft, where all the prospects are virtually absent from the team, see below:
A.J. Jenkins was traded to Kansas City Chiefs for Jonathan Baldwin
LaMichael James was rumored to be on trade market, struggled to break the lineup as the starting Punt Returner
Joe Looney did not break the starting lineup in 2 full seasons
Darius Fleming was waived due to injuries and is no longer on 53-man team
Trenton Robinson contributed on kickoffs and is no longer on the team
Jason Slowey did not make it on 53-man roster in his rookie year, no longer on team
Cameron Johnson was traded to Indianapolis for 7th round pick
This was a disastrous draft. Below is a link to my evaluation of this draft class the day after the draft took place.http://www.49erswebzone.com/commentary/1016-2012-post-draft-assessment-rounds-1-4/
TJ (Trent and Jim) must work together to get players for the next generation of this football team. Here's a list of home run hitters that the 49ers MUST go after in the 1st round.
Defensive Back
There are only 2 first round DBs in my eyes that will fit the 49ers scheme, Jason Verrett, CB, TCU and Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech. SF must move up to pick 17-22 to get either one of these guys.
Wide Receiver
If none of the DBs are available at pick 17-22, SF needs to go after Odell Beckham Jr. WR, LSU.
Defensive Tackle
There's not much depth behind our 3 starters, so if Timmy Jernigan slips to 15, SF needs to go after him.
My inspiration from working with 49erswebzone.com has encouraged me to start my very own website dedicated to NFL prospect evaluation, called www.prodraftanalysis.com. Though I will continue to post articles about the 49ers, I will also be spending a lot of time reviewing college football players and posting my unbiased evaluation for the dedicated fans.
Follow me live on twitter during the draft and tweet questions to @ProDraftAnlys.
If your question gets picked you will be put in a drawing for a $50 NFL GiftCard.
