The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 2 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio. The team remained on the East Coast this week and is practicing in Youngstown, Ohio.

Nick Bosa was noticeably absent at the start of practice. The rookie defensive end made his NFL debut on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and recorded his first career sack as a pro. He was given the day off to further recover from the ankle sprain he suffered early in training camp. It was still sore following Sunday's game, said head coach Kyle Shanahan.

"Anytime you have something like that, usually those injuries, high ankle sprains can linger for a long time," Shanahan said. "When you get in the game, usually you do stuff again, and hopefully he can recover by Sunday."

Wide receivers Trent Taylor (foot) and Jalen Hurd (back) were also absent. Taylor had surgery to repair his fractured foot on August 9, and Hurd is dealing with a back injury that kept him out of the 49ers' final two preseason games and regular-season opener.

Jimmie Ward (finger), who had surgery last week on his broken finger and was inactive against the Buccaneers, practiced on Wednesday with a blue no-contact jersey and a cast over the finger.

Running back Tevin Coleman, who exited Sunday's game early with an ankle sprain, did not practice and is not expected to do so this week.
