The 49ers will honor Owens during a halftime ceremony at Sunday's home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame last year as part of the Class of 2018 and received his Hall of Fame ring during a November 1, 2018, game at Levi's Stadium when the 49ers hosted the Oakland Raiders.
Owens, who was drafted by San Francisco in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft, was with the 49ers from 1996 until 2003. He also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills, and Cincinnati Bengals.
The six-time Pro Bowler and five-time first-team All-Pro has 1,078 career receptions for 15,934 yards and 153 touchdowns. Owens ranks eighth all-time in receptions and is third (15,934) to receivers Jerry Rice (22,895) and Larry Fitzgerald (16,496) in all-time receiving yards. He also ranks third in all-time receiving touchdowns (153) and fifth among all players in total touchdowns (156).
