The San Francisco 49ers are tinkering with the roster before their Week 5 matchup on Monday night against the Cleveland Browns. The team has promoted defensive back Marcell Harris from the practice squad to the active roster and released defensive back Antone Exum, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The move leaves a roster spot open on the practice squad.

The 49ers made Harris a sixth-round selection out of Florida last year. He registered 34 combined tackles through eight games and five starts with the 49ers in 2018.

The Minnesota Vikings made Exum a sixth-round selection out of Virginia Tech in 2014. He registered two combined tackles through three games with the 49ers this year. Exum has recorded 64 combined tackles, a sack, seven passes defensed, an interception, a touchdown, and two forced fumbles through his five NFL seasons.

San Francisco initially signed Exum on November 7, 2017.
