The San Francisco 49ers made it a point to get their newly acquired weapon, former Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, involved in the Niners' Week 8 bout against the visiting Carolina Panthers.

Sanders caught quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's first pass attempt of the game: a 4-yard completion on San Francisco's second play from scrimmage. And while Garoppolo nearly hit Sanders on the left side of the field on a nifty play fake, it was what happened later in the drive which stood out.

Facing 2nd-and-goal, Garoppolo hit Sanders for the 49ers' first touchdown of the day. More importantly, Sanders' first score with his new squad:


The score put the Niners up 7-0 in the first quarter. Stay tuned for more action and analysis from this Week 8 bout.
