The Arizona Cardinals have traded for running back Kenyan Drake ahead of their Thursday-night matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Cardinals were without starting running back David Johnson on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints and will be without him on Thursday against the 49ers. He suffered an ankle injury during Week 7 against the New York Giants.

Chase Edmonds replaced Johnson against the Giants and rushed for 126 yards on 27 carries with three touchdowns. He injured his hamstring during the third quarter of the Cardinals' Week 8 loss to the Saints after managing just eight yards on seven carries. Coach Kliff Kingsbury told ESPN there's "definitely concern" Edmonds would miss Thursday's game against the 49ers.

The Miami Dolphins made Drake a third-round selection out of Alabama in 2016. He carried the football 47 times for 174 yards with no rushing touchdowns while adding 22 receptions for 174 yards through six games and two starts with the Dolphins this season.

Drake has 1,532 rushing yards on 333 attempts with nine rushing touchdowns through his four NFL seasons.
