"Day-to-day," the coach said, not "week-to-week," which would indicate there is a chance Breida is available on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, however, reported this morning that Breida could miss a week or two after aggravating the ankle sprain, and is seeking a second opinion. It's an injury that put the running back's status into question during the 49ers' and Cardinals' first meeting in Week 9.
Breida, the 49ers' leading rusher, has 542 yards on 109 carries with a rushing touchdown through nine games and five starts this season. He also has 16 receptions for 110 yards and a receiving touchdown.
Shanahan provided injury updates on several players, including Joe Staley, Emmanuel Sanders, George Kittle, and Robbie Gould, during a Tuesday conference call.
