Kittle continues to recover from knee and ankle injuries suffered during the last meeting between the 49ers and Cardinals, a Halloween night matchup at State Farm Stadium. He sustained the injuries early in the game but played through the discomfort and accounted for six receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Kittle, 26, is the 49ers' leading receiver and has accumulated 46 receptions for 541 yards with two touchdowns this season. Sunday will be his second consecutive missed game.
"He played through the game two weeks ago with the same deal," head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Friday, "so that's why he's a guy that you never count out. We're trying to be smart with him, though."
Already ruled out against the Cardinals are left tackle Joe Staley, defensive tackle D.J. Jones, and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.
Running back Matt Breida and kicker Robbie Gould were listed as "doubtful" to play, but have not officially been ruled out ... yet.
