Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, while speaking with the media on Thursday, didn't want to make any predictions on Ford's status and how the team might try to replace his productivity on Sunday.
"Those are all things that we will approach later in the week once coach (Kyle Shanahan) makes his decision," Saleh said.

It sounds like Lynch, who joined KNBR on Friday for his regular-scheduled interview, isn't too optimistic about Ford's chances of playing in the crucial conference matchup. He said as much while discussing the defensive line's depth.
"I think we've built a D-line that our front line is really good but, yeah, the depth is incredibly strong and, sure, losing a [Ronald] Blair, a Dee Ford — Ronnie Blair for the season, Dee Ford likely going to be out this week — that's hard to stomach," Lynch said on the "Murph and Mac" show.
The 49ers traded a 2020 second-round draft pick for Ford in March, and the 28-year-old pass rusher has 14 tackles, 6.5 sacks, a pass defensed, and two forced fumbles through 10 games this season.
