Jackson is on pace for 3,530 yards passing and 1,274 rushing yards. Many teams have tried to stop him this season, and few have succeeded. The Ravens quarterback will be a handful for the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday when the two teams clash at M&T Bank Stadium.
One of those defenders tasked with stopping — or at least limiting — Jackson is DeForest Buckner. The Pro Bowl defensive lineman joined KNBR on Wednesday morning and was asked if he wakes up in cold sweats or gets hyped at the prospect of facing a player as dynamic as Jackson.
"I wake up hyped," Buckner responded on the "Murph and Mac" show. "I mean, every week is a new challenge, and you want to go against the best, especially in this league. And, eventually, to be where you want to be, you've got to play the best. It's just a great opportunity to see where you really stack up against the best.
"Everybody's excited and ready to go. You're hearing about this guy all year, and finally, we get the opportunity to go against him. It's just another opportunity for us to see what we can do."
While the Ravens own the top-ranked rushing offense, thanks in large part to Jackson, and the top-scoring offense, the unit will be tasked with going against the top-ranked 49ers defense. San Francisco's unit ranks No. 1 in fewest yards allowed per game and fewest passing yards allowed. It also ranks No. 2 in points allowed but No. 19 in rushing yards allowed.
You can listen to the entire conversation with Buckner below. The defensive lineman also discussed several teammates like Arik Armstead and Jimmie Ward.
