It doesn't sound like San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Dante Pettis (knee) will be healthy enough to play this weekend against the New Orleans Saints. Head coach Kyle Shanahan sounded a bit more confident about three other players who missed Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens, though.

Running back Matt Breida (ankle), defensive end Dee Ford (quadricep, hamstring), and tackle Joe Staley (finger) were inactive for the 20-17 loss. Shanahan is hopeful that all three will be healthy enough to play during Week 14.

"I'm holding out hope on all of them," Shanahan told reporters via a conference call on Monday. "I'm definitely more optimistic about Breida, Ford, and Staley. I'd be surprised to get Pettis back.

"None of them are for sure, though, but hopefully we'll be able to get three of the four."

In other 49ers injury news, Shanahan said cornerback Richard Sherman (ankle sprain), safety Jaquiski Tartt (rib fracture), and defensive tackle D.J. Jones (ankle sprain) are day-to-day and will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.

Defensive end Jullian Taylor will be out longer — at least a couple of weeks — with a "ligament issue" in his elbow, said Shanahan.
