One of the interesting notes from the video is Armstead sitting next to teammate DeForest Buckner on the sideline discussing what they were seeing from the Saints.
"I knew all their plays," Armstead told Buckner. "I just wasn't reading them fast enough."
It could be seen as a great example of how well the coaches prepare 49ers players for opponents. Of course, San Francisco's defense uncharacteristically gave up a lot of yards and points to the Saints on Sunday, so maybe it also showed how quickly Drew Brees and the New Orleans offense were able to get the ball out of the quarterback's hands.
"It's a shootout," Armstead later said. "I didn't expect this."
The 49ers improved their record to 11-2 with the 48-46 victory at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and now sit atop the NFC playoff standings.
Armstead played college football at Oregon, and the 49ers made him the No. 17 overall selection in 2015. He has racked up 46 tackles, 10 sacks, and two forced fumbles through 13 games this season.
Armstead has recorded 144 combined tackles, 19 sacks, a pass defensed, and three forced fumbles through his five NFL seasons.
