The NFL has suspended Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Josh Gordon for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances and substances of abuse, according to a report from NFL Network.

The suspension comes two weeks before the Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers at CenturyLink Field for what could be a division-determining matchup.

Seattle claimed Gordon off waivers on November 1 after the receiver was let go by the New England Patriots. He played in the Seahawks' Week 10 matchup against the 49ers and had two catches for 27 yards.

Gordon's contributions probably haven't been what Seattle expected this season. He hasn't had more than two receptions in a game with the Seahawks and had just seven receptions for 139 yards and no touchdowns through five games since joining Seattle.

Gordon's one reception on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, however, was for a 58-yard gain — his longest reception of the season and his longest since 2013.
