There was one pass by Jimmy Garoppolo during the San Francisco 49ers' Week 17 victory against the Seattle Seahawks that proved to be costly. Although, it's probably not too much of a concern for a quarterback making over $18 million this season.

The NFL has fined Garoppolo $7,017 for throwing a football into the CenturyLink Field seats after the game, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network via Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.

The football was the same one Garoppolo had in his hands in the closing seconds of the final NFL matchup of the decade, and a game that determined the winner of the NFC West. It landed in the arms of 19-year-old 49ers fan Matt Pinelli, who hopes to get the football signed at a later date.

Garoppolo thought he got away with his action.

"I looked for the ref initially, but no one was around me," Garoppolo told Maiocco. "So I was like ... I'm just going to throw this thing."

Garoppolo completed 18-of-22 pass attempts for 285 yards and a passer rating of 118.8 against the Seahawks. His 81.8 completion percentage tied for his highest as a starter (81.8 percent in Week 8 vs. Carolina).
