Sherman joined KNBR on Friday morning and shared his thoughts as he heads to Super Bowl LIV to play the Kansas City Chiefs in his ninth NFL season, and second with San Francisco.
"I feel great," Sherman said on the Murph and Mac show. "I felt great the first two. I feel great in this one. Obviously, you never know how many you're going to go to, you never know what's going to happen, but I'm enjoying the ride. We've got a great team, and we look forward to the challenge."
This Super Bowl may be more special than his previous two because of who gets to see him play in the game.
"There's definitely an appreciation," Sherman said on-air. "The last one I went to, my son wasn't born. He was a couple of days away, and he'll get to watch this one, so that will be pretty cool."
This wasn't the first time Sherman has mentioned playing in a Super Bowl with his son, Rayden, watching. The almost five-year-old has told his father that he wants a Super Bowl ring for his birthday, which is just days after the big game. Sherman hopes to deliver one.
"My son gets to see me play. My son gets to go to the Super Bowl," Sherman told reporters on Sunday. "My son's birthday is three days after the Super Bowl, and he wants a ring for his birthday, and I'm going to do my best to bring that to him."
Sherman was emotional after the 49ers beat the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game. The KNBR hosts asked him what was going through his mind during that moment when he realized he and the 49ers were headed to Super Bowl LIV.
"You just enjoy it," Sherman responded. "It's a cool process when you work hard, and you have a great team like we do. You appreciate the moments that you have, the moments of triumph. But the journey's not done, and we have another game to go out there and try to win."
