"It's going to mean a whole lot," Ford said before the NFC Championship Game when asked about the prospect of possibly playing the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. "I've got so much love for so many people over there, and you know what it's like playing your brother. It's different. It's just going to be different. I think anybody who would say otherwise is lying to you.
"It's going to be different. It's going to be fun, and I would love to see that. And I'm going to talk. I'm going to talk, talk, talk the whole game. I don't talk a lot. I'm going to talk."
The Chiefs traded Ford to the 49ers in exchange for a second-round pick in March of 2019. Since returning from injury for the playoffs, Ford has helped the San Francisco pass rush disrupt opposing quarterbacks and rack up nine total sacks as a unit.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid was asked about Ford during the team's media availability on Tuesday morning.
"He's a good football player," Reid told reporters from a conference room at the team hotel — the J.W. Turnberry in Aventura, Florida. "We got him in the first round. He was very productive for us. He's done a nice job for them, not that they needed a lot of help on their defensive front.
"They're really good, but he's been a nice addition for them. There are not a lot of pass rushers better than Dee in the National Football League."
Reid also said he isn't too concerned that Ford might have some inside knowledge of the Chiefs' defense and how to attack it. The team has, after all, changed up its scheme since last season. That's why they were willing to part with Ford.
The two teams kick off Super Bowl LIV from Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday.
