Whenever Nick Bosa speaks to the media, it's always with a soft-spoken tone. That's not necessarily what you would expect from the San Francisco 49ers' star defensive end — and now the Pepsi Rookie of the Year — given his disruptive play on the field.

"It doesn't seem like I have that much energy," Bosa told reporters on Wednesday at the team's downtown Miami hotel, "but on the field, I definitely bring a little more energy."

Bosa's responses are always short and to the point, which can be nice. He touched on several topics on Wednesday. Below are some of those responses.

Bosa on what a Super Bowl win would mean to him:


"It would be everything to me. Obviously, we put in all this work all year for one goal, and we're here now, so I'm excited to be here. I love my team, and I'm glad we get to do it down here."

Bosa on Richard Sherman's influence:

"He's been great. Just, whenever I've had my rookie moments, whenever I needed veteran advice or whatever, he's there for me. Even on the field, he'll come up to me and tell me, 'Stay locked in' or whatever, get me right. But yeah, he's been great. He's a great dude."

Bosa on potentially winning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year:

"I always want to be the top of my class. High school, college, I always wanted to be the No. 1 guy at my position and my class. I got picked the highest at my position (in the draft), so I set that goal. And my brother got it, so I wanted to definitely get it to match him. Yeah, that was the big goal for me, and my personal goal, and I achieved it ... from FOX, I guess."



The actual NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award will be announced on Saturday.

Bosa on the defensive line's talent:

"It's definitely easy to tell (how special it is), especially coming from college. I had a ridiculously talented team there and a ridiculously defensive line in college, but it's a whole other level up here. And to be on one of the best defensive lines in football, you definitely see it. Whenever you make a mistake, there's somebody's talent or ability making up for it somewhere else. So playing with [DeForest Buckner], Arik (Armstead), and Dee (Ford), and [Solomon Thomas], and everybody else, it just covers up a lot of issues that you may have. It's awesome, and they all play with crazy good effort, too, which is tough to find in the NFL."

Bosa on learning from Dee Ford:

"Me and Dee are pretty different when it comes to how we rush. I think, early in the year, I had some issues closing the deal on the quarterback. I think he gave me some tips how to just finish off my rushes because I was winning; I just wasn't finishing. I think that was one of the biggest takeaways."
