Those betting money on the San Francisco 49ers to win Super Bowl LIV ultimately lost it, as the Niners suffered their second NFL championship loss in franchise history by losing 31-20 to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

And the Niners aren't favorites to win Super Bowl LV a year from tonight, either. But they're in pretty good position regardless.

Shortly after the game's conclusion, Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook (h/t Wager Talk News) released early odds for the winners of the Super Bowl in 2021. Perhaps not surprisingly, the Chiefs are favorites to repeat with odds coming in at 5/1. The 49ers and Baltimore Ravens are both tied for second-best odds at 8/1, while the the New England Patriots are at 12/1 and the New Orleans Saints sit at 14/1.

The Washington Redskins, meanwhile, hold the longest odds at 200/1.

Naturally, that won't ease any 49ers fans' nerves after the crushing loss at the hands of quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. But considering the Niners were once at 25/1 odds to win Super Bowl LIV, one can at least suggest head coach Kyle Shanahan's squad exceeded the sports books' expectations.

Another hat tip to KNBR 680 for the find.
