"We expect him to get involved immediately as we make decisions on our current roster and approach free agency," Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell said via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The 49ers parted ways with Baalke just before the final game of the 2016 season and officially announced his departure on January 1, 2017. He was replaced by current general manager John Lynch, who has since helped transform one of the most talent-deprived rosters in the NFL into a championship contender.
The NFL hired Baalke in August of 2017 as a Football Operations Consultant.
Baalke started his tenure with the 49ers in 2005 as their western region scout and officially served as the general manager from the 2011 season through the 2016 season after serving as the team's vice president of player personnel in 2010. He was named Executive of the Year after the 2011 season.
Baalke was part of a house cleaning that saw the 49ers fire him and head coach Chip Kelly. Kyle Shanahan replaced Kelly.
How much of an overhaul did San Francisco's roster undergo since 2017? Just six 49ers players — Arik Armstead, DeForest Buckner, Raheem Mostert, Kyle Nelson, Jaquiski Tartt, and Jimmie Ward — acquired under Baalke were part of Super Bowl LIV.
The Jaguars, by the way, will be playing back-to-back home games in London during the 2020 season.
