The 49ers are hiring former Buffalo Bills assistant defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton to join head coach Kyle Shanahan's staff, according to the report. He was a potential candidate to replace Bills defensive line coach Bill Teerlinck, who left to become Virginia Tech's defensive line coach.
Whitecotton spent the past three seasons with the Bills and the last two as the team's assistant defensive line coach.
Kiffin, 38, joined Shanahan's staff on February 14, 2018. He is the younger brother of Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin and the son of longtime NFL defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.
Before his time with San Francisco, Kiffin was the defensive coordinator for Florida Atlantic and the defensive line coach at Ole Miss. Kiffin has also spent time with Nebraska, USC, and Arkansas State in various roles.
Woods, the 49ers' former passing-game coordinator and defensive backs coach, was named the Browns defensive coordinator on Thursday.
