Saleh feels the 49ers have "unfinished business," according to Pelissero.
Saleh interviewed for Cleveland's head coaching job in January, but the Browns opted to hire former Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski instead.
Saleh is preparing to enter his 16th NFL season and fourth with San Francisco. He helped transform an underwhelming 49ers defense into the No. 2 ranked (points allowed) unit in the NFL.
Saleh spent three seasons as the Jacksonville Jaguars linebackers coach along with various assistant roles before that with the Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans before joining head coach Kyle Shanahan's staff in San Francisco.
