Richburg, like many of his teammates, left the Santa Clara area to spend time with his family. That is life in the NFL. You aren't always near your loved ones during the season and for much of the offseason. Richburg, however, will return earlier than his teammates to work on his rehab with the 49ers medical staff.
He has his eyes set on being healthy for the 2020 season.
"Should be back in training camp," Richburg told NBC Sports Bay Area last week. "I'll miss the offseason stuff, but training camp should be a go."
Richburg is one of two 49ers players who restructured their contracts during this past season. Both did so after suffering injuries. Linebacker Kwon Alexander helped the 49ers free up some 2020 salary cap space in November while Richburg did so in December.
Richburg's hefty 2020 cap hit was reduced from $9 million to $4.5 million. It showed that he wants to remain with this 49ers team, one that was just short of a Super Bowl championship.
