The San Francisco 49ers brought back a key component in the defensive-line rotation, re-signing defensive end Ronald Blair to a one-year deal last week. The team finally announced the move on Monday, and the contract details have emerged.

Blair is returning from a torn ACL suffered in November against the Seattle Seahawks. The defender posted a video of himself running before the start of free agency, showing that he is on his way to a full recovery.

"His versatility and playmaking ability along with his strength of character off the field make him special," general manager John Lynch said of Blair via a statement. "Ronnie's work ethic makes us confident he will return to form this season."

Below is the contract breakdown of Blair's deal, courtesy of OverTheCap.com. The total value of the deal is nearly $2.3 million.

2020:
$2.16 million base salary (all guaranteed)
$137,500 prorated bonus
$1.0475 million salary-cap hit

Blair's salary-cap hit is lower than his salary because the team opted to use the new "veteran salary benefit" on the defender. It enables an NFL team to exclude up to $1.25 million from the cap for a player with at least four years of experience.
