Oddsmakers aren't expecting the 49ers to suffer a Super Bowl slump, either. The team was one of the biggest surprises last season after finishing with four wins in 2018. San Francisco went on to win 13 games, the NFC West, and the best record in the conference. It also fought its way to a Super Bowl appearance.
Things didn't end as the 49ers had hoped, but that doesn't mean they will suffer the same fate as other Super Bowl losers in recent years. The Los Angeles Rams are the most recent example, losing to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII and then missing the playoffs last season.
BetOnline gives the 49ers the best odds of repeating as NFC West champions in 2020.
San Francisco 49ers (-125)
Seattle Seahawks (+350)
Los Angeles Rams (+400)
Arizona Cardinals (+700)
As for the 49ers' win total, BetOnline has the Bay Area squad at 10.5 wins.
San Francisco 49ers
Over 10.5 wins (-105)
Under 10.5 wins (-115)
Seattle Seahawks
Over 9 wins (-130)
Under 9 wins (+110)
Los Angeles Rams
Over 9 wins (+115)
Under 9 wins (-135)
Arizona Cardinals
Over 7.5 wins (-120)
Under 7.5 wins (+100)
In fact, the 49ers' 10.5 win total is the best among NFC teams. Only the Baltimore Ravens (11.5) and defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs (11.5), both AFC clubs, are expected to produce more wins in 2020.
That could be significant for the 49ers with the NFL changing the playoff format for the upcoming season. The NFC and AFC will each admit one more team into postseason play, upping the total to seven total per conference. That means only one team per conference will earn a first-round bye and be able to rest up during the Wild-card round.
San Francisco (+500) is also favored to win the NFC Championship Game, and return to the Super Bowl. Close behind are the Saints (+550), and then the Buccaneers (+800) and Dallas Cowboys (+1000). It's no surprise that Kansas City (+350) is favored to do the same on the AFC side.
Both the Chiefs (+650) and the Baltimore Ravens (+700) have better odds than the 49ers (+1100) to emerge as Super Bowl LV champions.
