Given the 49ers' current draft slots, the team is expected to need over $8.1 million of that cap space to pay its rookie class.
Of course, that number could change should San Francisco find a way to acquire some Day 2 draft picks. The team owns seven selections but currently lacks one between rounds one and five. Many expect the 49ers to entertain trade offers for either one or two of their players or one of their two first-round selections.
Two potential player trade possibilities are running back Matt Breida and wide receiver Marquise Goodwin. The media has speculated that Breida is a strong candidate to be traded, given the 49ers' depth at running back. There was a report last month that the team is willing to listen to offers for Goodwin.
Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne campaigned for Breida's return after the running back congratulated the receiver on signing his one-year tender. Breida, like Bourne, was tendered a one-year deal.
The 2020 NFL Draft takes place from April 23-25.
