The NFL is moving forward as if the regular season will start as scheduled. That schedule, with dates and times, by the way, isn't being released until May. There isn't much else the league can do until it has more information on the long-term impact of the pandemic.
While some aren't optimistic that football will be played in Santa Clara in September, one 49ers player is itching to get back on the field.
Linebacker Kwon Alexander, the emotional leader of the Hot Boyzz, was thought to be lost for the season last year after suffering a torn pectoral muscle during Week 9 and landing on injured reserve. He fought hard to return and did so for the 49ers' exciting playoff run.
Alexander appeared in all three playoff games and recorded two tackles and a pass defensed during those matchups.
A pectoral injury wasn't the only discomfort Alexander played through during postseason play. He underwent surgery in February to repair a biceps injury that also plagued him during the playoffs. The linebacker tweeted on Monday, indicating that he is eager to get back to hitting opponents.
Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne posted a video on Instagram of Alexander training and preparing for the upcoming season, his sixth in the NFL and second with San Francisco.
