Davis racked up 99 receptions for 1,201 yards with 11 touchdowns through two seasons with the Aggies. An injury kept him out of his first season at Texas A&M (2016), and he didn't record any statistics during his redshirt season in 2017.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6-foot-1 and 201-pound Davis had a 40-time of 4.54 seconds and a vertical jump of 35.5 inches. Other measurables for Davis include an arm length of 31 3/8 inches and hands that measure 9 1/2 inches.
The NFL Draft is a week away. Pre-draft interviews are being held virtually over video chat software as the NFL continues to observe social distancing. Members of the team staff are conducting these interviews, along with other draft preparations, remotely from their homes. Conversations with draft prospects can't last more than an hour, with no more than three with a single player per week.
Below is the NFL.com draft profile bio on Davis:
Davis starred at Langham Creek High School in the Houston area before moving about 75 miles to the northwest to play for the Aggies. Davis missed the 2016 season due to a knee injury and did not record any statistics while playing in eight games as a redshirt freshman in 2017, though coaches saw his talent in practice while Christian Kirk and others made plays on Saturdays. Davis stepped into the WR1 spot with Kirk's departure for the NFL in 2018, leading the team's wide receivers with 45 catches for 585 yards (13.0 per) and seven scores. He played only 11 games in 2019 (54 receptions, 616 yards, 11.4 average, four touchdowns; five carries, 32 yards, 6.4 ypc in nine starts), but still decided to forgo his final season of eligibility and head to the NFL.
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com wrote the following about Davis within his scouting report:
Slot receiver with above-average size and adequate speed and separation quickness. He has good feel for space when working against two-deep looks. Willing and able to take on targets in the middle of the field. Davis was hurt by inconsistent quarterbacking but also found it difficult to uncover against tight man-to-man at times. He had some positive moments at the Senior Bowl and despite slightly underwhelming production, could land in Day 3 (Rounds 4-7) as a backup slot target with some outside flexibility.
Joe Marino of The Draft Network wrote the following about Davis within his scouting report:
Texas A&M WR Quartney Davis profiles as a slot receiver in the NFL where his route running skills can truly shine in the short to intermediate areas of the field and his below average functional strength would be less problematic than outside. While there's a lot to like about the way Davis competes through contact and after the catch, he can be swallowed up by physical corners and he lacks consistency with his hands and ball skills. Davis has a modest ceiling in a west coast passing offense and should provide some value as a WR4.
