Former West Virginia offensive lineman Colton McKivitz is the newest member of the San Francisco 49ers after the team made him a fifth-round draft pick on Saturday. He joined KNBR shortly after receiving his phone call from general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan.

An excited McKivitz was asked about his "brawling tendencies" in college.

"I've gotten into a few scuffles before," McKivitz said. "I usually take a few on the chin, but that's alright. I get it during the whistle, so it works itself out."

The offensive lineman was also asked to describe his style of play on the football field, and he provided a very honest answer.

"Personally, (I think) I'm a prick," McKivitz responded. "I like to get inside guys' heads. I think that's one of the biggest things. If I can get him to think about me rather than [the offense], then I know I'm winning. That's the one thing I really enjoy about it."

Does that mean trash-talking against opposing defenders?

"If he's willing to talk, I'll talk back," McKivitz admitted. "I've got no problem with that."

McKivitz will be moving from West Virginia to Santa Clara. What does he think about the transition?

"I refer to myself as a civilized redneck, so I'll be alright," he said.
