Fans know that The Joe Show took a hiatus before returning in 2018. Staley joined KNBR on Wednesday and explained the reason behind that first break. The former tackle shared that when he first started doing the show, he wasn't as sarcastic, and the show was vastly different from its more recent style.
"I was young, and I said yes to every single thing that people asked me, at that point," Staley admitted to Greg Papa and John Lund. "I started it, and then I just kind of started having fun with it. ... And then it got to the point where I kind of stopped doing it because we were losing. And then I just didn't think the tone was right to kind of show us joking around when all this losing was going on."
Then the show briefly returned in 2018 but didn't last too long. In fact, it lasted just two episodes (episode one and episode two, for your viewing pleasure) before Staley gave it up. He explained why it ended yet again.
"I got kind of upset because they would cut out all the, like, sarcastic humor," Staley shared. "I don't know if they thought it was too edgy for me to be mean or whatever. They cut out a lot of the stuff that I thought was funny, and I was like, 'If you're going to do that, then I don't really want to do it.'"
