The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) seeks to limit activities that increase the risk of transmission of the virus, and that includes a request that there be no 11-on-11 activities during practices, according to a report from Pro Football Talk.
The players union also wants to limit practices and group activities in the days leading up to games, per the same report. That could make coaches' jobs significantly more difficult.
The NFL already announced several media restrictions for training camp and the preseason, which includes no in-person interviews with players and pool reports to minimize the number of reporters at team facilities.
The NFL reportedly wants to cut the number of preseason games in half. The NFLPA, however, voted this past week in favor of not playing any exhibition games ahead of the 2020 season, according to Mike Garafolo.
"It's clear that the union and the league are not on the same page with regard to the length of the preseason right now," Garafolo said on NFL Network.
Added Garafolo: "The players I'm told are expressing a number of concerns on this call. Not the least of which, is if there's so much concern about this virus right now, why are we returning to work, period? And I was told that one of the medical experts said that is something you're going to have to decide on an individual basis."
