Not only did Kittle show off the tattoo itself, but he also showed off the process of having it placed on his right arm.
Kittle and the 49ers hope the tight end's next ink job will be putting pen to paper on a contract extension. The former fifth-round draft pick is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is primed to become the highest-paid tight end in football, by a significant margin.
"We're working diligently," general manager John Lynch told reporters on Monday when asked about the negotiations. "I can tell you that. I'm not going to get into the timeframe. We are working diligently to come to a resolution. I've been on record saying what George means to this place."
Head coach Kyle Shanahan also sounded optimistic that a deal will get done sooner rather than later.
"We don't have to say how important George is to us, and not only [him] being the best tight end, to me, in the league but also the type of person he is," Shanahan said. "We're doing everything we can to get that done. I do feel good about it."
