The San Francisco 49ers have signed veteran offensive lineman Spencer Long, according to his agent.

Long is 29 years old. San Francisco had an opening for an offensive lineman after Jake Brendel chose to opt-out of the 2020 season. Offensive tackle Shon Coleman also decided not to play amid a pandemic this season.

Washington made Long a third-round selection out of Nebraska in 2014. Long has 67 game appearances through his six NFL seasons. He played a season for the New York Jets before joining the Buffalo Bills in 2019.

Long appeared in 27 games over the past two seasons. He started 13 games in 2018 with the Jets but received the worst Pro Football Focus grade (47.1) of his career that season. Long was dealing with a finger injury that season, according to The Athletic.
