"We're hoping to get both of those guys back next week," head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Wednesday.
Could the 49ers look to add another veteran receiver ahead of the start of the season? The New England Patriots, after all, released Mohamed Sanu.
General manager John Lynch joined KNBR on Thursday and was asked about the possibility of adding Sanu, whom the team admitted to having interested in last season.
"We're actually pretty pleased with our with our depth at wide receiver," Lynch said on the Murph & Mac show, "and it may be something where early on in the season, we're not at full strength, but we like the way the group has come around.
"Sanu has been released, so I am free to talk about him. He's an excellent football player, one that has history with our staff, and so I think when a good football player becomes available, we're always interested, and we're always looking to see if they can help.
"But I will say that we're probably more comfortable than most people think at the wide receiver position. What we've seen throughout this offseason leaves us really excited about the group. So it has to fit, and we'll see where that goes. That's where I'll leave that."
The 49ers had Sanu and Emmanuel Sanders evenly ranked as last season's trade deadline approached but were forced to deal for Sanders when the Atlanta Falcons dealt Sanu to the New England Patriots.
The Cincinnati Bengals made Sanu a third-round selection out of Rutgers in 2012. He registered 59 receptions for 520 yards with two touchdowns through 15 games in 2019.
