Tackle Trent Williams and linebacker Dre Greenlaw were each considered among the best at their positions during Week 1 and were named to this week's squad.
Williams even captured the Play of the Week honors after obliterating Cardinals linebacker Jordan Hicks on Sunday.
"After not playing a down of football since 2018, Trent Williams came back in 2020 with a bang — literally," wrote Anthony Treash. "The clip above shows Williams climbing up to the second level and laying out Arizona linebacker Jordan Hicks. That's our play of the week, and it was instrumental in him landing a spot on the PFF Team of the Week mentioned earlier. His 89.7 run-block grade was the third-best of the week, and he allowed only a single hurry in pass-protection."
Williams is in his 10th NFL season and first with San Francisco after a trade from Washington in April. He earned Pro Football Focus' highest-overall grade (88.6) from Sunday's game between the 49ers and Arizona Cardinals, and was the second-highest graded NFL tackle during Week 2. Only Andrew Whitworth of the Los Angeles Rams graded higher, and he earned the other tackle spot on PFF's Team of the Week.
Greenlaw is in his second NFL season. His 84.2 overall grade from Week 1 ranked third on the team and second only to defensive end Nick Bosa (84.7) on defense. It was the second-highest linebacker grade during Week 1 among players with 30-or-more snaps.
Greenlaw finished the game with five tackles, including one for a loss, and a pass defensed in 35 snaps.
