The roster hits keep coming for the San Francisco 49ers. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that defensive end Ezekiel Ansah suffered a torn biceps on Sunday night against the Philadelphia Eagles and will head to injured reserve. The team will also be without cornerback K'Waun Williams for at least three games as he too lands to injured reserve with a knee sprain.

The 49ers had hoped to receive some reinforcements this week, but Shanahan didn't sound overly optimistic about several key players' potential availability. After Sunday's game, the coach told reporters that he wasn't too sure about quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's availability for this weekend or even this week's practices.

"I know he'll have a good workout here Monday and Tuesday, and hopefully he'll be good to go for Wednesday, but I'm not sure yet," Shanahan said.

On Monday, Shanahan was asked about running back Raheem Mostert's status for this week.

"We'll see on Wednesday," Shanahan responded. "I'm not real optimistic but I know he does have a chance Wednesday, and it will get more and more each day that goes in the week, but we've got to wait to see how he comes in then."

As far as cornerback Richard Sherman, Shanahan would put his chances at about the same level as Mostert's.

"Not real high on either but I know they do have a chance," Shanahan said. "Initially, I was told Sherm would be about three to four weeks. I think we're coming up on three. I know it was most likely supposed to be four. I'm kind of expecting, hoping for him next week. It would be a good surprise to get him this week.

"Talking to Sherm, there's always a chance, but we're going to have to wait and see how he is on Wednesday."

Shanahan added that cornerback Emmanuel Moseley remains in the concussion protocol, and the 49ers are taking his status day by day.

Cornerback Dontae Johnson played hurt against the Eagles.

"He hurt his groin in the game but we didn't have enough guys up so he came back in the game just trying to battle through it," Shanahan said. "I know that was tough for him towards the end, especially giving up that go-route and everything."

The good news is that cornerback Jason Verrett, who suffered a hand injury on Sunday night but returned to the game, "should be fine," according to Shanahan. Wide receiver Dante Pettis had some knee soreness but the coach hopes he can practice on Wednesday.

Shanahan hopes to get linebacker Dre Greenlaw and cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon back at practice this week. Wide receiver Richie James Jr. could potentially return from injured reserve.
