Kyle Shanahan's squad has won two consecutive games against teams that were favored. That comes after two upset losses, one of which was an embarrassing rout by the Miami Dolphins.
Second-year linebacker Dre Greenlaw joined the 49ers Talk podcast this week to discuss his nickname, "Big Play Dre," take a look back at that great play in the final moments of last season's Week 17 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, and declare that his Niners aren't close to throwing in the towel on the 2020 season. In fact, they have a lot of fight left in them, and their high hopes remain steadfast.
"I expect us to play hard for the rest of 2020," Greenlaw told Matt Maiocco. "We've had some shortcomings, and we've had some tough losses that I think really woke us up. With the way the season has played out, with a lot of people being hurt, it's a lot of stuff that we couldn't control. I think the men that we've got on this team is going to fight until they can't fight no more. I know I am."
Greenlaw has racked up 27 tackles, three tackles for a loss, a sack, a quarterback hit, and a pass defensed through five games and three starts this season. His sack came on Sunday during a 33-6 rout of the New England Patriots.
The 49ers, who only focus on the opponent ahead of them, are locked in on this weekend's game against the division-leading Seahawks at CenturyLink Field — the same location as Greenlaw's memorable division-clinching goal-line stop from last season.
Greenlaw and his teammates are ready to give 100 percent and fight for the win.
"We all love to play the game, and this is what we do," Greenlaw continued. "I'm just going to give it all I've got until I've got no more because it's the organization that came and got me in the fifth round, so it's only right that I give them everything I've got every snap. I think that's (the case) for me and for the rest of the guys."
You can listen to the entire conversation with Greenlaw below. It begins at about the 19:20 mark.
