The 49ers opened the practice window for Richard Sherman, and the veteran cornerback took part in his first practice since before Week 1. He has been attempting to return from a calf injury.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan is hopeful to have Sherman back for San Francisco's Week 12 game against the Los Angeles Rams.
"I know Doctor Sherm thinks he's got a chance this week," Shanahan added. "And I've been around him enough that that's why I don't count him out on that. But my goal is hopefully to get him back by the Rams. But I won't rule him out for anything because of what his prognosis is."
Of course, Sherman is not listed on the practice participation report below because he has not yet been activated off of injured reserve. The 49ers are not required to reveal how much he participated.
Running backs Raheem Mostert (ankle) and Tevin Coleman (knee) have already been ruled out for Sunday. As has linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (hamstring). Mostert remains on injured reserve.
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring) did not practice and will be re-evaluated on Thursday. Cornerback K'Waun Williams will be out "for a while" with a high-ankle sprain. Should he land on injured reserve for the second time this season, he won't be able to return.
Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Although, Shanahan did say on Wednesday that Bourne has already tested negative once since landing on the list for the second time in a week.
"I'm not allowed to talk about it, but it's what you've heard," Shanahan said. "I mean, positive, negative, negative, positive, negative. I think everyone, those things happen, I guess, and we're all just dealing with it. I know it's a weird situation with him."
Below are Wednesday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Saints, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
