The San Francisco 49ers lost their third consecutive game and sixth of the season. The team heads into its much-needed bye week, hoping to rest and recover — maybe get some players back on the other end.

The latest loss came at the hands of the New Orleans Saints, who knocked off the visiting 49ers 27-13. After the game, reporters asked quarterback Nick Mullens about the locker room's mood as the season seemingly continues to spiral downward.

"Right now, I'm really frustrated by the loss," Mullens said via Zoom. "I feel like we really could have done some special things out there. But we've got a resilient group. We've got a bye week. We've got six games left. And I feel like we can win games. We can win a lot of games.

"We've just got to play disciplined football. And that's going to be the mindset moving forward, just disciplined football. And we're just going to put our heads down and go to work, and we're excited about that. It's the last stretch, and it's time to kick it in gear."


Linebacker Fred Warner was also asked about the state of the locker room, and how it compares to the rough stretches during his rookie season in 2018.

"Trust me; this isn't nowhere near where that 2018 season was," Warner said. "Yeah, I remember that year. This is a much more experienced football team, and we just haven't had things go our way."

The 49ers should be receiving a few reinforcements after the bye week — players like running backs Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman on offense and cornerback Richard Sherman on defense.

Of course, San Francisco lost yet another player — running back JaMycal Hasty — against the Saints. He suffered a broken collarbone and will likely join a crowded group on injured reserve.

"We're going to get a lot of players back after the bye week," Warner continued. "Everybody needs this bye week. We've been playing for a while now. So, we have a great opportunity to just continue to get better, and guys understand that."
