San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman finally feels healthy. Sunday was his first game back since Week 1, and he looked like the savvy veteran who we've become accustomed to seeing on Sundays.

On Friday, Sherman wanted to assure everyone that he doesn't feel that the calf injury he suffered and the longer-than-expected recovery time indicates potential chronic issues moving forward.

"Something was definitely solved," Sherman told reporters via Zoom after Friday's practice. "It took a while to get it solved. I had a few setbacks, but I'm not expecting this to be anything chronic.

"It was cool because we were able to get to the bottom of some deeper underline problems and get those corrected, so we didn't have anything in the future. It sucked in terms of the time missed, but it helped in terms of the long-term prospects."

Sherman also showed off his versatility during Sunday's win in Los Angeles. He covered receivers, blitzed, and even lined up at safety.

"It was fun. It was a good time," Sherman said. "It was a little bit of a changeup, showing them a different look, and we were able to get off the field, and create some chaos, make a few adjustments that people have to game plan for. So, it was fun. It was fun after 10 years of playing in the same spot, you get to mix things up."

Sherman is set to become a free agent after the season. Head coach Kyle Shanahan understands that there are some difficult decisions ahead with the salary cap likely to drop, but would like to see his veteran cornerback remain in red and gold.

"Sherm's a guy that I know I, personally, and I know John (Lynch) feels the same, we want on our team at all times," Shanahan told reporters this week. "Sherm's a guy that when he does get older, and he does descend, he's such a good football player, he finds a way. ... I know in Sherm's time here, he's been everything we've hoped and more. And I really hope these next whatever games we have left, I really hope that's not the end of it."
