San Francisco 49ers Linebacker Fred Warner has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time of his career. The last honor came on November 27, 2019, following a 37-8 victory over the Green Bay Packers.

The latest award comes after the playoff-eliminated 49ers upset the Arizona Cardinals 20-12. Warner was credited with a career-high-tying 14 tackles and added three passes defensed, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery during the game.

Warner joins former 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis as the only Niners linebacker to win the award multiple times. Willis also won it twice.

Warner is in his fourth NFL season and has racked up 115 tackles, four tackles for a loss, five quarterback hits, two interceptions, six passes defensed, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries through 15 games this season, per Pro Football Reference.

San Francisco made Warner a third-round draft pick out of BYU in 2018. The linebacker recently received his first Pro Bowl selection.
