The Jacksonville Jaguars have hired Urban Meyer to be the team's next head coach. That eliminates one team with which San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh interviewed. Of course, it still leaves five others — the Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, New York Jets, and Philadelphia Eagles.

Meyer won three national championships and owned a 187-32 college coaching record during stints at Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, and Ohio State. His last national title came in 2014 with the Buckeyes.

Saleh had an in-person interview this week with the New York Jets, his second discussion with the team after meeting virtually last week. The coach is meeting with Eagles brass today, and the Los Angeles Chargers would like to have a second interview.

While the first coaching domino has seemingly fallen in Jacksonville, there remains a good chance that the 49ers lose their talented defensive coordinator very soon.

The 49ers will travel to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars during the 2021 season.
