Robert Saleh has snagged away 49ers offensive line coach John Benton to serve in a similar role with the New York Jets. The former Niners defensive coordinator already took Mike LaFleur with him to serve as his offensive coordinator.
Assistant offensive line coach Chris Foerster will replace Benton. The team will also be getting a familiar face back with Rich Scangarello, who will once again serve as the team's quarterbacks coach. He served as the Denver Broncos' offensive coordinator in 2019 and was an assistant with the Philadelphia Eagles this past season. Scangarello was the 49ers' quarterbacks coach from 2017-18.
All of this comes after the team promoted linebackers coach DeMeco Ryans to defensive coordinator. Plans for that move were reported almost immediately following Saleh's departure.
