Now, a team making a call doesn't necessarily indicate a strong desire to acquire a player. A team like the 49ers might simply be inquiring about an available player and doing their due diligence, as you might expect. Allbright does note that some teams have reached out to inquire about the Eagle's price for Wentz but have not made an offer.
Allbright also mentioned the Chicago Bears, who many feel might be the most interested in Wentz, Indianapolis Colts, and Houston Texans.
The Texans are an interesting mention since they have expressed no desire to trade their star quarterback, Deshaun Watson. Of course, Watson has no desire to play another snap for Houston.
"Basically 2 or 3 teams in it, but not at Eagle's price point," wrote Allbright via Twitter. "Leaks on 'compensation' coming from the Philly side, because they're trying to get teams involved and drive the price up."
The Eagles drafted Wentz out of North Dakota State with the No. 2 overall pick in 2016. He completed 251-of-437 attempts (57.4 percent) for 2,620 yards with 16 touchdowns and 15 interceptions through 12 games this past season.
Wentz, 28, has completed 62.7 percent of his passes for 16,811 yards with 113 touchdowns and 50 interceptions through his five NFL seasons.
