Colin Cowherd sure likes New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold and feels the former USC star can still find success in the NFL — but maybe with a different team.

The FS1 host took to Twitter on Sunday and reacted to the report from Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports that head coach Kyle Shanahan remains a fan of the Jets quarterback and former No. 3 overall pick.

"Sources tell me 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan (is) very high on Sam Darnold," said La Canfora during the broadcast leading up to Super Bowl LV.

That's a marriage that Cowherd would love to see.

"If the reports are true — Sam Darnold deserves Kyle Shanahan — after what he endured [with] the Jets," Cowherd wrote via Twitter. "Not supposed to be a fan but I'm pulling for that."

This isn't the first time Cowherd has pushed for a Darnold-to-49ers scenario. In November, he explained that his respect for Shanahan has everything to do with the desire to see Darnold in red and gold. The host of The Herd with Colin Cowherd feels the 49ers coach can bring out the best in the quarterback.

"Do you want a pocket passer past his prime (in) Matt Ryan or this losing quarterback, Sam Darnold, that everybody in America doesn't like, except me?" Cowherd said in November. "Because we know that Shanahan knows offense. We know Shanahan is smarter than us with football. And I think this is the one team that has the personnel — it's just injuries — that will bounce back next year if they get the quarterback right."

For now, the 49ers are sticking with Jimmy Garoppolo after inquiring about Matthew Stafford but never making a trade offer. La Canfora also reported that San Francisco is "very interested" in Deshaun Watson, who wants out of Houston.

The 49ers also reportedly inquired about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. Of course, so did the Texans (reportedly), who have denied interest in parting ways with Watson. So, there's that.
