As Melo points out, Hawkins rushed for a school-record of 1,525 yards on 264 carries through 13 games in 2019 while adding nine rushing touchdowns. He followed that up with an eight-game campaign, rushing for 822 yards with seven end-zone trips on the ground and another through the air.
Hawkins (5-9, 196) opted out of the remainder of the 2020 season before Louisville's November 21 game against Syracuse, forgoing his remaining two years of collegiate eligibility to focus on the draft. He was on pace for his second straight 1,000 yard rushing season before making the decision.
NFL teams are allowed to conduct up to five video calls per prospect leading to the draft, and each call can last up to one hour. There is no limit to how many phone conversations NFL teams can conduct with draft-eligible players.
The NFL Draft is scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 29.
