Following the leak of the Cincinnati Bengals' new uniforms, another Twitter user shared photos of the upcoming jerseys for the Chicago Bears and 49ers. It is important to note that the authenticity of these rumors have not been verified, but they are creating some interesting discussion on social media and among news-reporting sites.
Jase Greenberg shared photos of a Nike-branded Nick Bosa 49ers throwback, which is sparking some excitement.
While it's all speculation at this point, the photos could mean players will wear replicas of the fan-favorite throwbacks worn for most of the 1994 season—the last time the 49ers won a Super Bowl. Those throwbacks were actually a modernized version of the uniforms worn by the Niners in 1955.
San Francisco's players have worn the road white versions of those throwbacks during select games since 2018 as an alternative to their regular jerseys. They replaced the often-criticized all-black alternates the team introduced in 2015, which were worn five times during games. While many fans liked them, the red-on-black color scheme often made properly identifying players on the field somewhat challenging for broadcast viewers or the media sitting in the press box.
The upcoming season could be the first time fans see the red home versions of the throwbacks uniforms since Super Bowl XXIX.
It is unknown if Levi's Stadium will host fans this year. Although, Guido sounds optimistic that will happen. The 49ers recently created a medical advisory committee of leading Bay Area public health experts to explore the safe return to Levi's Stadium.
"I'm confident that with the leadership group ... we'll put the right measures in place to make sure that we can have fans when we kick back off in August and September. So I feel really good about it," Guido recently said on 95.7 The Game, via Niners Wire.
